The foundations of OPAL began to develop in 2015 when Bioregional and Transition by Design came together to share their experience and expertise to try and address one of the greatest issues facing the UK in the 21st Century: the need for better housing for all.
Through a year of research and discussion the OPAL approach was born. The culmination of this work can be found in the OPAL report available to download on this website. The OPAL project builds on this research and from October 2016 to April 2018 we will seek to refine the approach through testing, reflection and analysis with community housing groups and experts.
The OPAL project is a 20-month action research initiative supported by the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust.
We held a launch event in November 2016 to announce the project and the completion of the OPAL report. Please follow our latest news section and sign up for updates to hear how the project develops.
